As many of you know,Alexa has been sick for some time now. She started out with Croup(or so they thought) then started running fever while on a antibiotic. After a couple of days and higher fever I took her back and she was then diagnosed with RSV and Pneumonia. She was put on another antibiotic (Augmentin) and breathing treatments. After 10 days of antibiotics she went back in for a well visit and we found out she now has an ear infection. She was then given a shot of Rocephin(??) and she wanted to see her back in two days. Well the ear was still infected so another shot was given and she wanted to see us back today. The ear is still infected!! Dr Coreil told us that she would give one more shot and if this does not work then she is off to an ENT. I was a little shocked because I thought you only went to an ENT to talk about tubes only if the child has had a bunch of infections in a short period of time. She said that is true but in Alexa's case the fluid and infection are not getting any better after a series of strong Antibiotics. And also because bad ears can run in families and she is concerned because of Hunter's situation. I was upset to hear this but pleased at the same time because with Hunter they gave him so many different medicines (nothing really worked) before sending him to an ENT and he now has a little bit of hearing loss in his ear because of the continuous fluid that stayed in his ear. I really must say I am very pleased with Dr Coriel! I have had Dr's who just have the wait and see attitude but she is not like that. When Alexa had Pneumonia she did not hear any wheezing in her chest or even that much coughing but sent her to get an x-ray just in case and sure enough she had Pneumonia. I'm actually pleased with the whole practice there. Alexa has also seen Dr Baily, when Coreil is out, and he is very good also!! It is just really nice having Dr's you can trust! Anyway, wish us luck with her ears because no parent wants to see their child have surgery even if it is a minor one.

Oh I'm so sorry! I was just thinking about Alexa and wondering how her follow-up went. It's so funny how some kids start off with ear infections early on and then others (like Alexa and Brooke) wait until later in toddlerhood to get them. And it's also strange how differently they are all treated because they are all so unique. Maggie's little girl had to get the shot and it didn't work and then Mrs. Laura at the girls school had to have the 3 shot sequence. I guess it is a good thing to have the tubes put in early but I do know exactly what you are feeling. In fact it looks like we both may be heading to the ENT next week so maybe we can sit in the waiting room together =)
Love you! Kiss baby girl for me!
Awww....your blog is so cute! I almost did that one! Great minds think alike =)
